The University of Guam School of Business and Public Administration’s (SBPA) Master of Public Administration (MPA) Fall 2015 graduate candidates will host a two-day Western Pacific Conference on Public Administration and Policy Solution on Tuesday, November 24 and Wednesday, November 25 at the Hyatt Regency Guam.

The graduate candidates will bring together leaders, academics, and members of the community from throughout the region to collaborate, explore, discuss, issues and challenges facing the islands of Micronesia in the Western Pacific.

The conference will consist of numerous modules with concentration on issues that are current and relevant to the islands of the region.  With round table discussions, working groups, and practical planning session, the conference will provide regional leaders and community members the opportunity to participate in policy development, obtain Professional Development and/or Continuing Education credits, and exposure to Academic presentations on various themes of the region.

This conference will be outcome and solution driven; sessions will be focused on improving public policy, recommending policy solutions, and strategically planning for the future, resulting in good governance of the islands of Micronesia, and a better future for the region.

Dr. Annette T. Santos, SBPA Dean, hopes the conference paves the way in developing the University’s vision for a Regional Center of Excellence in Governance, Ethical Leadership and Public Policy. “We are excited to highlight another example of how the University of Guam demonstrates its mission to promote and foster sustainable, ethical and socially responsible leadership.  As the leading academic institution in the region we are committed to addressing the most pressing public policy challenges of the 21st century resulting in positive impacts to our community, both locally and in the region.  This conference is an intellectual conduit for the people and institutions of the Region to learn from one another.”
