Leaders, Students Celebrate during 55th Student Government Association Inauguration
The 55th Student Government Association (SGA) of the University of Guam celebrated the inauguration of new student officers
on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the UOG Calvo Field House.
Before the ceremonial taking of oaths of office and pinning ceremony, Lt. Gov. Ray Tenorio, delivered a remarks about his early days of being an SGA President at UOG and bestowed a few words of wisdom.
“No matter what, you do don’t let anything or anyone get in the way of your ambitions, your dreams, and especially your education because your ambitions and your dreams are a function of your capabilities,” Tenorio said. “Stay with your education, continue to get that. Make sure you aspire for great things and see it out.”
Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez congratulated the newly inaugurated members and spoke with enthusiasm about the upcoming academic year.
“We’re looking forward to the interactions that they have—the opportunity to actually engage in conversations with our university leaders, with members of our faculty senate leadership as well as others throughout campus,” Enriquez said. “I want to wish them a wonderful year and excellent platform for leadership development.”
New SGA President Samantha David said one thing she’s looking forward to this year is the launch of a mobile application for UOG by the Office of Technology and Integrated Marketing Communication Office.
“I hope it will pique the students’ interests in a more effective way.”
David is excited about the on and off campus activities from student organizations, the opportunities to meet new friends, and is motivated to reconnect and collaborate with her peers.
