Japanese Studies Student Scholarship
The Consulate-General of Japan at Hagåtña announces that the Japanese Government Japanese Studies Students Scholarship for 2016.
The scholarship is available to qualified U.S. citizens born between April 2, 1986 and April 1, 1998. Undergraduate students interested in deepening their understanding of the Japanese Language, Japanese Affairs and Japanese Culture, are recommended to apply.
Applicants must be an undergraduate at a university (non-Japanese) majoring in fields related to Japanese language or Japanese culture at the time of arriving in and leaving Japan. Applicants must have sufficient Japanese language ability to receive education in Japanese.
The scholarship program will include an allowance of ¥117,000 Japanese yen or approximately $1,000 per month (subject of change) to the successful candidates. The term of the scholarship is one year from October 2016. The scholarship also includes an economy class round-trip airfare to Japan.
The Consulate-General of Japan will carry out the preliminary screening from among
the applicants by means of interview, written examination (in Japanese) and a review
of the submitted documents. The applicants are requested to follow the application
procedures and submit the necessary documents to the Consulate-General of Japan by
Friday, March 4, 2016. Application forms and additional information are available
