The University of Guam has named Dr. Michael Gunn as its new Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMSS) and has named Remy Cristobal as Associate Dean of EMSS and Registrar.

Most recently, Gunn was the Associate Provost for Enrollment Management at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology where he served in several appointments through out the school including Department of Chemistry Department Head, Chief of Staff to the president and Director of NCAA Division II Intercollegiate Athletics.

He holds Ph.D. in Anthropology and Health Services Administration from Columbia Pacific University.

Gunn hopes to continue serving students and helping them reach their full potential. “I want to make sure every student has the best opportunity to succeed,” he said. “I want people to find their passion—to identify the kinds of things that allow them to be successful in the way they want to be successful.”

Cristobal began working at the University of Guam in 1989 as an administrative aide in the Triton Bookstore. Since then, she has held many titles at UOG, her most recent being Interim Dean of EMSS for the last two-and-a-half years. Cristobal earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Guam.

Cristobal said the goal of her new role is to assist the EMSS Dean with the student services portion of his job, which is a great undertaking.

“We’re looking at improving retention and increasing enrollment, and we’re also developing mentor programs that will provide our students with the information and resources to become successful students.”” she said.
