GSAT Assistive Technology Conference Call for Proposals
The Guam System for Assistive Technology Project (GSAT) is proud to announce the 23rd Annual Assistive Technology Conference
on March 10, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Conference will provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities, their
families, and the public and private sector providers to explore issues related to
awareness and utilization of Assistive Technology (AT). Information will be disseminated
and innovative AT products and services will be displayed.
The theme for this year's conference is #Assistive Technology for All. Funding for
this activity is provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration
for Community Living.
Presenters are invited to share information and benefits about an Assistive Technology
device or reasonable accommodation that you or your company, department, or organization
is currently using. The Conference is structured to include a resource panel. We
kindly request the following information.
An Assistive Technology device is defined in the Assistive Technology Act of 1998 as amended as “any item,
piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially, modified, or
customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities
of individuals with disabilities.“
A reasonable accommodation is defined as any change or adjustment to a job, the work environment, or the way
things usually are done that would allow an individual with a disability to apply
for a job, perform job functions, or enjoy equal access to benefits available to other
individuals in the workplace. (http:// www.dol.gov/odep/topics/Accommodations.htm, January 5, 2017)
