Aspiring Engineers Compete in Annual Spaghetti Bridge Competition

University of Guam Pre-Engineering program held its annual Spaghetti Bridge Competition on Dec. 20 at the Jesus and Eugenia Leon Guerrero Business & Public Administration Building.

Students applied knowledge learned in the classroom to construct bridges made solely of uncooked spaghetti noodles. The bridge that held the most weight won.

Team D, consisting of sophomore Nicholas Gankiewicz, junior Jeremiah Acosta, and senior Rachell Mae Brigino won the competition. Their bridge weighed 555 grams, and the total load carried before finally collapsing was collapsed was 2,983 grams or roughly 6.6 lbs.
