RadewagenThe University of Guam is proud to welcome the honorable Amata Coleman Radewagen, U.S. Representative, American Samoa as the 31st speaker in thePresidential Lecture Series. The lecture will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017 in the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (CLASS) Lecture Hall on the UOG Campus. The title of her lecture is "My Road to Congress went through Guam."

Radewagen (R) was elected as American Samoa’s third Member of Congress in November 2014.  She is the first woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from American Samoa.  Radewagen holds the orator (talking chief) title of Aumua from the village of Pago Pago in American Samoa and is commonly called Aumua Amata. Radewagen, an alumna of UOG, graduated in 1975 with a bachelor of arts in psychology.

"The University is pleased to welcome back Aumua Amata, a distinguished alumna,” said UOG President Dr. Robert Underwood. “She has been a leader for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for many years and had a great impact in our Pacific Island communities.”





About the Lecturer
AMATA COLEMAN RADEWAGEN (AUMUA AMATA), Republican, was elected as American Samoa’s third Member of Congress on November 4, 2014.  She is the first woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from American Samoa.  She has been the most senior member of the Republican National Committee since 2012 and holds the orator (talking chief) title of Aumua from the village of Pago Pago in American Samoa where she is a registered voter.
