UOG Men’s Soccer Drops 10-5 Match In Landshark Beach Soccer Playoffs

The University of Guam Men’s Soccer Team lost to Quality Distributors 10-5 in the first round of the Guam Football Association Landshark Beach Soccer League Playoffs. UOG came into the match seeded 3rd out of 5 teams in the league, while Quality Distributors were #2.

The match was close in the early going, as both teams scored 2 goals each in the 1st fifteen minute period to be tied 2-2 going into the 2nd period. But Quality Distributors began to use their superior size and team depth to wear down the Tritons in 2nd 15 minute period and outscore UOG 5-2 in the 2nd period and take a 7-4 lead going into the 3rd and final15 minute period.

The Tritons came out and scored the first goal of the 3rd period to cut the lead to 7-5, but Quality put the “Foot” down and finished out the period with a 3-0 run that led to the final 10-5 score.

Joseph Quan led the Tritons with 3 goals on the night while Rafael Sablan and Jacque Diambra scored one each. The Tritons are 2-3 on the season so far.

The playoffs are double-elimination and the Tritons will play the Crushers FC at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night at the GFA National Training Center “Beach Field”. The Crushers lost on Wednesday night to the Bobcat Rovers. The winner will continue to play, the loser will be the first out of the tournament. The Bobcat Rovers will face the #1 Seeded BOG Strykers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
