UOG Men's Basketball Team Signs Four Players to Letters of Intent for 2017-18

The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team recently signed four players from their 2016-17 squad to Letters of Intent for 2017-18.

Rafael Sablan, Giorgio Meneses, Ryan Nangauta, and Andrew (AJ) Carlos each signed letters of intent last week. Sablan, Nangauta, and Carlos will receive scholarships to play for UOG - a first for the University.

Men's Basketball has also signed three off-island players to letters of intent to play for the 2017-18 academic year-DeMadjeo Simon, Geno Anderson, and Austin Treweek.

Rafael Sablan signed both a Letter of Intent and Athletic Scholarship to return to the basketball team in 2017-18. Sablan was a two sport athlete in 2016-17 as he was also a member of the UOG Men's Soccer team for the Tritons as well as the Men's Basketball team. The former Simon Sanchez High School basketball player was Honorable Mention All-Island in 2015-16.

Giorgio Meneses signed a Letter of Intent to return to the Tritons in 2017-18. Meneses played high school ball at Father Duenas Memorial School and has been a solid performer for the Tritons. He was a high scorer for the UOG squad during several of the GBA Season 2 games.

Andrew (AJ) Carlos has been with UOG since the original team in the spring of 2016 and has played all three seasons of the Guam Basketball Association league.  Carlos played basketball for Simon Sanchez High School.

Ryan Nangauta joined the team in the spring of 2017 and helped lead the Tritons to their best season so far in the GBA this spring. Both players are mainstays on the offensive side of ball,with both averaging 10+ points a game. Nangauta played basketball for Southern High School.








  • DeMadjeo Simon: Simon is a 6'2" combo guard from Tuscaloosa, Alabama who played high school basketball at Andre Agassi High School in Las Vegas, Nevada where his team won a state championship and he averaged 14.6 points a game, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocked shots. DeMadjeo also played junior college basketball at Enterprise Junior College in Alabama and Napa Valley Community College in California.

  • Geno Anderson: Anderson, a 6'1" point guard/shooting guard from Wallace State Junior College in Alabama, has played on several minor league teams over the past several years and now returns to finish his education at UOG and play for the Tritons.

  • Austin Treweek: Treweek is a the 6'1" guard who is originally from the Melbourne, Australia area but played his senior year in high school in Logan, West Virginia. He averaged 15.3 points per game last year with 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals per game. In Australia, he averaged 21.3 points per game, with 6 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals per game.  Austin picked UOG and it's education value over signing with a professional league in Australia.
