UOG Men's Basketball Falls To Outlanders 103-60 In The GBA On Monday Night
The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team after playing their best basketball of
the season the past two games hit a wall on Monday night in the UOG Calvo Field House,
dropping a 103-60 game to the Outlanders in a game were they never led and points
were hard to find.
UOG was playing without leading scorer Ryan Nangauta, out with an injury, and leading
rebounder Dez Fikes was limited due to an injury as well. The Tritons did play a solid
first quarter, but was down 28-17. The Outlanders kept the pressure on in the 2nd
period as they outscored UOG 29-15 and took control of the game at half-time, 57-32.
UOG played their best quarter in the 3rd period, but was still outscored 23-19 and
trailed 80-51 going into the 4th period. The 4th quarter proved to be a nightmare
for the UOG offense, as they could only muster 9 points (tied season low) and the
Tritons fell to the Outlanders 103-60.
The Tritons were outscored in the paint 60-32 by the much taller Outlanders and were
out rebounded 65-44. The Triton offense could not score 20 points in any quarter as
they shot only 28% from the field.
AJ Carlos and Jorge Piolo scored 14 points each for UOG while Elias David and Karlo
De Leon added 11 and 10 points to the UOG total. David also had 10 rebounds for UOG
to have a "Double-Double" on the night. 6'10" James Collins led the Outlanders with
28 points.
The Tritons are now 3-8 on the season and play on Saturday at Noon in the final regular
season game of the year against the Bombers at the UOG Calvo Field House. The Outlanders
are now 5-5 on the season and play the Phoenix tomorrow night at 6:00pm also in the
UOG Calvo Field House.
