UOG Men's Basketball Drops Two Games In GBA
The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team dropped two games in the Guam Basketball Association League last week.
On Thursday, MVP 86-74 defeated the Tritons. On Sunday, UOG lost 97-68.
Thursday's game was a close affair for most of the night. UOG trailed by 6 points at the end of the 1st quarter (22-16) after leading for most of the quarter, but in a reversal of many of the team's previous games in the 2nd quarter, it proved to be a positive rather than a negative as the Tritons were down by only 3 points at half-time 41-38.
In the third quarter, UOG had a scoring drought only putting up 13 points as MVP pulled ahead 67-51. UOG came out strong in the 4th quarter, scoring 10 straight points early on, as the Tritons pulled within 4 points (69-65) but could not complete the comeback and ended the game losing 86-74.
AJ Carlos and Dezdin Fikes scored 17 each for the Tritons while Ryan Nangauta added 16.
Sunday's game was a completely different game as UOG never had a lead in the game and team could only muster 24 points for the entire first half. The KFC Bombers were up 47-24 at the break. UOG did score 44 points in the 2nd half, but the damage was done as the Bombers maintained their first half lead and built on it slightly in the 2nd half towin 97-68.
Ryan Nanguata scored 13 to led the Tritons and Dezdin Fikes added 10 as the only other double digit scorer.
UOG is 0-3 in the GBA and play on Thursday against MacTech. Game time is 8:00 p.m. at the UOG Calvo Field House.
