Guam Water Kids Field Trip
A group of public school teachers studying the importance of Guam’s fresh water participated
in a joint field trip provided by Guam Water Kids, the Guam Department of Education,
and the University of Guam on Wednesday, April 12. The six-hour trip included observing
the Northern Guam Lens Aquifer, the island’s major fresh water resource, and also
included a stop at the DPW quarry in Dededo.
The field trip was led by Dr. Nathan C. Habana, Assistant Professor of Groundwater
Hydrology at the University of Guam Water and Environmental Research Institute (WERI);
Eloise R. Sanchez, School Program Consultant, GDOE Division of Curriculum & Instruction;
and Ann Card, Guam Water Kids. Guam Water Kids is an outreach program of WERI and
funded by a grant from Triple J Enterprises Guam and Ford Motor Company Conservation
& Environmental Grants.
