The 2016 University of Guam Film Festival of the Pacific (UOGFF) Spring Local Showcase has announced the official line-up for its second spring event set to take place April 29th and 30th, 2016 from 10am to 10pm Friday and Saturday at the UOG Lecture Hall and the UOG Fine Arts Theatre.

A total of 14 world premieres from the Mariana Islands will be exhibited. Admission to each screening will be $5.00. Only cash payments will be accepted at the door.

Scheduled to appear is Hollywood special effects make­up artist and hair stylist, Analyn Cruz. Cruz, originally from Guam, is scheduled to conduct a movie makeup workshop at the 2016 UOGFF. Cruz has made her mark on the Hollywood scene working at Paramount Studios and on projects such as The Grammys and The Oscars. She has worked for celebrities such as Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds ­ CBS), Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls ­ CBS), James Roday and Dule Hill (Psych ­ USA), Matthew Fox, Kurt Russell and David Arquette (Bone Tomahawk ­ RLJ Entertainment), The Wayans Brothers and more.

The 2016 UOGFF will unveil the world premiere of the highly anticipated Guam documentary, “American Soil, Chamorro Soul”. The film will make its debut as the festival’s centerpiece film. The documentary, produced and directed by Guam resident and travel blogger Jessica Peterson, has been in production since March 2015 and features interviews with Chamorro cultural practitioners on Guam.

Additional festival highlights include an unprecedented cash prize award for the top three films totaling two­thousand dollars. The top three films and two audience choice winners will go on to vie for the “Best Made in the Marianas” honors at the Guam International Film Festival (GIFF) signature fall event in September 2016.

The Guam International Film Festival (GIFF) has officially partnered with the University of Guam College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences to produce the University of Guam Film Festival of the Pacific (UOGFF) Spring Local Showcase, a launching pad for original work made exclusively in the Mariana Islands.
