Guam Cultural Repository
Sagan Fandipositon Kotturåt Guåhan, or the Guam Cultural Repository, houses and cares
for our island's treasured cultural and historical artifacts and associated records.
We are dedicated to the preservation, conversation and repatriation of Guåhan's cultural
and material heritage, artifacts, and archaeological collections and history.
A joint program of the University of Guam (UOG) and the Department of Chamorro Affairs
(DCA), I Sagan Fandipositon Kotturåt Guåhan provides Code of Federal Regulations-compliant
curatorial services and back-of-house research operations for the Guam Museum. At
the same time, it works alongside UOG's Micronesian Area Research Center to serve
as a leading educational and research facility for cultural scholars and practitioners
in the region interested in Guåhan's tangible and intangible heritage.
Many of the archaeological collections placed at I Sagan Fandipositon Kotturåt Guåhan
have been displaced or removed owing to large-scale developments among other impacts
caused by militarization, tourism, and other construction projects in Guåhan. I Sagan
Fandipositon Kotturåt Guåhan strongly supports preservation in situ (in place), however,
through which a better understanding and respect of Guåhan's special cultural and
historical landscape can be realized for the people of Guåhan and future generations.
I Sagan Fandipositon Kotturåt Guåhan is currently closed to the public as we work on receiving collections and associated records from the Guam Museum, the Department of Defense, and State Historic Preservation Office.
Please continue to visit this website for updates about research opportunities, incoming collections and visiting I Sagan Fandipositon Kotturåt Guåhan.
