Fanuchånan 2020
August 24th, 2020
Håfa Adai, Tritons:
I sincerely hope that you and your loved ones have remained safe throughout the last few months. The pandemic and public health emergency has taken a toll on the island but has shown just how resilient our island is. We’ve all had to find new ways of goingabout our daily lives, working, learning, and teaching.
We are excited to start classes on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. If you haven’t already, you will be hearing from your professors on requirements and schedules as all classes will be taught online during PCOR1. Classes that were scheduled for face-to-face instruction or hybrid during PCOR3 (see Web Advisor for this information) will be taught online until the island returns to PCOR3.

No. There are no changes to the academic calendar for Fanuchanan 2020.
UOG employees and UOG students have a shared responsibility. Wearing masks; practicing social distancing; following room, bathroom and elevator density guidelines; and sanitizing high-touch surfaces are all critical to campus safety. Everyone must follow these guidelines to avoid spreading the COVID-19 virus on UOG's campus, and to protect yourself and others.
Please do not come to the campus if you are feeling ill or have any symptoms of COVID-19.
Do not come to the campus if you have recently tested positive for COVID-19 or have
recently come into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Instead
call 311 for advice on Contract Tracing. Contact your health provider for additional
advice. Contact your instructor as well about make-up work.
The University will continue to follow COVID-19 public health protocols mandating social distancing and requiring everyone on campus to wear masks.
Anyone who enters a UOG building will be subject to screening. Screening entails asking a series of pertinent questions to minimize the risk of the COVID-19 spread within UOG facilities. If you answer “YES” to any of the questions below, you will be asked to leave the campus or referred to appropriate Public Health contacts for proper care and guidance.
These questions include, but are not limited to:
You Go outside of the building you are in, find a space where you can be at least
8-10 feet from anyone, and take off your mask. If anyone approaches you to talk, you
must keep that distance from them without a mask.
Always over your nose and mouth - at the same time. Do not pull a mask down to talk
to someone because you can eject moist particles from your exposed nose and/or mouth.
Generally, you will not be able to come to campus for classes (or to work). Properly
worn masks are a requirement for everyone who visits the UOG campus. Having one person
not wearing a mask in a room with other people wearing masks creates additional and
unnecessary risk.
Generally, no. Most of the eating spaces on campus are not large enough for 8-10 foot distancing without a mask. It is best to eat off campus or in your vehicle.
The following websites provide more information:
The University will be providing free of charge one (1) reusable face mask per student
registered for 20FA. Distribution will be announced at a later date. Extra masks and
other health and safety products are available for purchase at the Triton Store or
masks are available at off-campus vendors. Please call (671) 735-2931 or email store@triton.uog.edu
for more information.
