Graduate Studies

Graduate Studies is the key to mastery of a profession or a discipline that can contribute to your own personal and career goals and also to the revitalization of Guam for the next several decades. As higher education increasingly turns to online venues, local universities are more and more critical to the process of mentoring students, personalizing their academic experiences, and maintaining the human factor.

The role of the Graduate Admissions Office is to administer graduate admissions and maintain the academic records of graduate students.

Graduate faculty at the University of Guam are among a broad network of colleagues, co-workers, friends, and family who will be part of your cohort for the rest of your working life. Graduate program coordinators and professors within each major provide students with advice and assistance with special problems.

Appeals, petitions, and requests for special consideration are handled by the vice provost of Academic Excellence, Graduate Studies, and Online Learning via the respective dean.

The vice provost shall coordinate graduate matters between college and school academic programs, the Graduate Admissions Office, and the RFK Library, which handles thesis and special project publication and archival.

Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP)

The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) is a regional organization created by the Western Regional Education Compact and adopted in the 1950s by Western states. WICHE was created to facilitate resource sharing among the higher education systems of the West. Helping students gain affordable access to higher education is one of its objectives.

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is coordinated by WICHE. Students enrolled through WUE pay up to 150% of the enrolling institution's resident undergraduate tuition. To qualify, applicant's must demonstrate residency in a WICHE member state and must be admitted to a WUE-eligible major at UOG.

WICHE's member states include 15 Western states and member U.S. Pacific Territories and Freely Associated States (currently, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Republic of Palau and Guam). WICHE’s 15 member states are: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Eligibility

Students must demonstrate one (1) year of residency in a member WICHE state. Proof of residency can be demonstrated by providing one of the following:

Front and back copy of current state issued driver’s license, or a state issued ID; expried IDs will not be accepted.
Most recent state income tax return
W2 or vehicle registration

We will notify applicants of UOG’s admissions decision within 2 to 3 days after receipt of their application. Shortly thereafter, we will notify the applicant as to whether or not they were awarded the WRGP tuition rate.
