On August 13, the University of Guam held an orientation for 58 Merit Award recipients. The Merit Award is a $50,000 scholarship that covers four years of tuition and fees for each student and also provides a monthly stipend. The scholarship is awarded to the top ranked students graduating from each public and private high school.
