The University of Guam Triton Warrior Battalion recently celebrated the achievements of its cadets with an award ceremony, congratulating the 13 newest contractees and awarding around $427,000 in scholarship money to several cadets.

Cadets Belizabeth Rengiil, Maryann Cruz, Maria R. Marinas, Richard V. Pizarro, Xiangdan J. Han, Jhon Michael Delfin, Christopher R. Winterlee, Alejo Lujan, Joyce H. Borja, Phillip Taijeron, Johnroy Prez, Shannon N. Reyes, and Don Olkerill were all contracted into the ROTC program on September 11.

Among them, six were awarded the National Scholarship worth about $10,300 per year, which is given to cadets at each ROTC battalion that have competed for scholarships nationwide. The scholarships are managed through the United States Army Cadet Command.  

Cadets Christopher Andrada, Lowella Di Ramos, Ashley Torres, and John Roy Perez were awarded the Henry Ofeciar Army Scholarship worth about $9,500 per year.

Other awards and recognitions

More than 20 UOG Triton Warriors traveled to Fort Knox, Kentucky over the summer to complete either Cadet Initial Entry Training or the Cadet Leadership Course.

Five other cadets completed the Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency Program, which takes cadets to places like Hungary, Indonesia, Romania and the Philippines to work and train with the militaries of those countries while gaining knowledge of their culture.
