UOG Returners Receive Soccer Scholarships

University of Guam

The University of Guam Men’s Soccer Team signed five returning members of the 2016-17 men’s soccer team to Athletic Letters of Intent and partial tuition scholarships for the 2017-18 season.

Joseph Quan played high school soccer at Father Duenas Memorial School and made 2nd Team All-Island as a senior. Father Duenas finished 2nd during Quan’s sophomore season. Quan played for the Cobras, Wolverines and Strykers as a club player during his youth.

John Anthony Raz played high school soccer at Simon Sanchez High School. Raz also played club soccer for the Bobcat Rovers. He was the Salutatorian of his senior class and earned a Merit Scholarship to attend the University of Guam and he has been named a “Regent Scholar” each semester at UOG so far.

Michael Topasna played high school soccer at Southern High School where he was the starting goalkeeper. He was the captain of the U17 Shipyard Wolverines, and he played for the Guam Football Assocation’s D1 Southern Cobras. He was the captain of the Southern High School Academic Challenge Bowl Team, Salutatorian of his senior class and received a Gates Millennium Scholarship. He was also captain of the Southern High football team, was All-Island in Track and Field, and he is an international level official who has called U14 matches in China before.

Dylan Naputi played high school soccer at George Washington High School where he was captain of the soccer team twice. He was All-Island for 3 years and George Washington finished in the “Top Four” all three years he played high school soccer. He was named Most Valuable Player for George Washington as a senior. Playing club soccer in Idaho, he was a state champion for Les Bios Boise club and helped win the Robbie Webber Championship for the Wings in 2012. He was also named All-Island in football at George Washington.

Dominic Gadad attended Yap High School on the island of Yap. He was named to the Yap Soccer All-State team and played for club teams in the Federated States of Micronesia. Gadad has already earned an AA degree in Computer Information Systems. He was also a member of the UOG Club Basketball Team in 2016-17.
